   Our Process

The Chamber's policy approach is member driven and results focused. Our Advocacy staff works with Chamber members to develop legislative agendas, organize lobbying efforts, profile cases, engage the business community, and build relationships in the public policy arena.
  • The Chamber Board of Directors ultimately must approve all Chamber advocacy positions.
  • The Chamber Board has created the Chamber Advocacy Council (CAC) and has empowered it to discuss and recommend advocacy actions to the Board. As a result, the Chamber Board should generally refrain from discussing and deciding advocacy issues; but rather, the Chamber Board should detail to the CAC which issues should be examined and decided.
  • The CAC ultimately must approve all subcommittee advocacy positions before presenting them to the Chamber Board.
  • The CAC has created multiple subcommittees and has empowered those committees to it to discuss and recommend advocacy actions to the CAC on specific topics. As a result, the CAC should generally refrain from discussing and deciding specific advocacy issues that are clearly within the boundaries of any of its subcommittees; but rather, the CAC should detail to its subcommittees which issues should be examined and decided.
  • Each subcommittee of the CAC has the power to discuss and recommend advocacy actions to the CAC on any topic within its purview, even when not under a direct order to do so in any specific circumstance.
